Buying cheap ski holiday insurance?

always check the small print

Finding cheap ski holiday insurance for all the family is easy – once you know where to look.

There are several simple ways you can make sure you’ll get the cheapest travel holiday insurance that will have the cover you need – but without you paying expensive premiums.

But before sharing those with you here’s a very important thing to emphasise first.

Never scrimp on your cover. You should always buy a policy adequate for your family’s needs.

What you can do is to save money by shopping around and comparing providers.

Make use of travel insurance comparisons online and look at policies to see what’s included that you may or may not need.

So, with that in mind, here are five top tips for finding cheap ski holiday insurance, which here in the UK is often sold as an optional extra on a personal travel policy.

1 Don't follow the herd
If you’re booking family ski vacation package with a large tour operator either direct or via a high street travel agent, don’t feel pressured into buying their policy. Take a look around. It’s quite likely that you can buy an identical policy that costs less.

2 Research prices
Use price comparison websites to get an idea of policy pricing, remembering to always compare like-with-like.

3 Use a specialist
Having compared prices, then search for a specialist winter sports broker or provider. Consider buying direct and online from a specialist – job done quickly and easily.

4 Buying a group policy makes financial sense
Choose a family policy. Some will include your children at no additional charge.

5 Plan ahead
Choose a family annual multitrip travel insurance policy that straddles two ski seasons.

For example, let’s say you’re taking a late season ski trip in April. An annual policy will cover you for family ski vacations the following January and March too.

It’s a simple way to make a saving with a little bit of planning.

Check the small print before you buy to be sure that the policy has all the features you need. If your family enjoy off-piste, do check that the terms and conditions as it’s specifically excluded from some policies to keep costs down.
