Kids ski equipment deals
whether you rent or buy, make savings with a multi-item deal
Finding kids ski equipment deals is often the cheapest and easiest way to get hold of the essential items your child will need for skiing. There’s no denying that skiing requires a fair amount of equipment, and children need just as much as adults.
There’s an absurd art in getting the whole family kitted out and on the slopes - or even your pre-schooler strapped into
toddler skis
for playing outside. A sense of humour will definitely help, as will some common sense steps to get all the family where they need to be, with everything they are supposed to have.

Where can I find good kids ski equipment deals? For safety, all gear must fit properly so should be fitted by someone who's fully trained. Visit your local ski shop, or choose to shop when you arrive on ski holidays - there's advantages and disadvantages to both. Whichever you choose, opting for kids ski equipment deals that include everything your child needs is a sure way of making sure that all the kit fits properly.
Are kids ski equipment deals only available if I buy new? No, you’ll need to decide whether you’re going to hire or whether to buy your own. They're available as either, so ultimately it will depend on your circumstances and budget.
If you're planning several winter sports holidays during the season, it may well be cheaper to buy your own kit. This is particularly so if you’re able to buy second-hand (remember to get the fit checked). Children do grow alarmingly quickly - ours certainly do, must be the bracing mountain air! - so don’t be surprised if the gear is too small by the following season.
Most of us don’t take ski vacations as frequently as we’d like, so really it works out cheaper to hire in resort. This is probably the best option if you have a limited luggage allowance on the journey to and from resort.
What is included in kids ski equipment deals? They should include everything your child will need. So that's
skis
which have
bindings
mounted on them. The bindings hold
ski boots
in place on the ski. If your child has progressed beyond the beginner’s stage, he’ll need
ski poles.
For safety he’ll also need a special
ski helmet
to protect his head in case of a fall. You’ll find that these items can be hired as a package.
Anything else? Yes - once your child has all his kit, put name labels on. Try to imagine the mounting frustration if you've got to ask every other parent with children in your child's ski class if their's has your child's skis on - even more fun in a foreign language - and you'll understand why we label everything! If possible use waterproof labels, although we have as a last resort used strong sticky tape with the name written on in permanent pen. If you label all the kit, you and your child will definitely save time when it comes to picking out his things from other children's.
Teach your children to look after their things We’ve found that teaching the children how to carry their skis and poles correctly definitely helps everyone to keep calm. No longer are you a packhorse carrying everyone else's kit, but the children have responsibility for looking after their own things on family ski vacations.
